recently, i have been "assigned" to read the "Power of Myth" ....

to say the least it is a fascinating book. errh...
it's not really a book at all...it is actually a written conversation between Bill Moyer (the host) and Joseph Campbell(the philospher)....

there is one point in the conversation that really opened my mind...

Joseph Campbell said....that humans are incapable of understanding(describe in
words), let alone Love, a being that is perfect. He said that all humans can
understand and even grow closer to one another because of their imperfections...All
in all, we are imperfect. Then he went on and said...that is why Christians are
capable of loving God because of Jesus.

Bill Moyer curiously said, but Jesus is considered perfect. How do Christians link God with love?

Campbell said that Jesus "suffered" and suffering is considered imperfect....
this really reminded me of that Isiah verse...

"But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed."
Isiah 53:5

wow....the humbleness of God continues to astound me more and more...

I'm currently learning about Buddhism. It's pretty interesting that "suffering" also seems influence so much on that religion.

I don't suggest people to read Power of Myth who are under the age of 18. It has no explicit material or anything of that nature, but i just think teenagers are lost as it is...and this book is only going to make it more confusing.
